Although RJA is the most diversified, there are in fact a number of agricultural commodity ETFs and ETNs. Do the research on following tickers: DBA, JJA, JJG, UAG, GRU, FUD, JJS, FUE, MOO, etc. There are also others that track a single commodity.

There are several ETFs that track various commodity indices, but for a pure agricultural play the only fund I know of is Elements Rogers International Commodity Index - Agriculture (RJA). It tracks Jim Rogers' index and is well diversified (20 agr. commodities). Note it's an ETN - exchange traded note. As far as I know it's issued by the Swedish Export Credit Corporation which is owned by the Swedish government.

Other than that one can buy shares of agricultural companies of course. Also worth considering are fertilizer companies (e.g. Potash etc).

Hi Petra, any suggestions on how to meaningfully play agricultural comodities, maybe through ETFs? Difficult through stocks, as they are expensive now. Moreover, cooperatives usually do not issue shares :-)
